Examples of robots at work

Several types of robots are available for use at work. In addition to the cleaning robots, professional robotic lawnmowers and professional cleaning robots, there are also robots to receive your guests. Examples are social robots, service robots and even human service robots. But there are also logistics robots, co-bots and robotic arms for companies that expect the more physical tasks from their technology. For helping your employees you can look at a telepresence robot or a counter robot.

Technology for business

The development of technology is going very fast. The business community can innovate by combining human contact with technological opportunities.

Humanoid, human robot has many functions

A humanoid robot can perform many tasks. Of course as a buddy or friend but also in teaching is the humanoid coming-up. Humanoids that assist in and around the house will have to wait. But there are developments that indicate that the humanoid will take over tasks.

Development humanoids, human robots

The humanoid robot is obviously the closest to man. There have been uses as a model, teacher or robot baby. Some humanoids approaching the appearance of man very strong and discussions if a humanoid can be a life partner, are underway. What social roles will the human robot play? Wait and see but it is certainly interesting to monitor developments.

Scout, Amazon's delivery robot, starts delivering parcels after a successful small-scale test. From Monday to Friday, the robot drives around the Irvine region in California. The reason Amazon starts in sunny California is because of the weather. It doesn't rain much and the sun shines a lot, so there's little chance that the robot will have to drive in all weathers to deliver a package. In Seattle, where the robot was tested, it was different.

China is already the world's largest market for industrial robots. As labour costs continue to rise, the demand for robots in the country will be stronger. The country's agricultural sector is seen by some as a place where technologies can take root. A research institute and a startup, Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Fujian Newland Era Hi-Tech Co Ltd, are determined to develop an agricultural robot. The sensor-rich agricultural robot can move between two rows of chlorophyll in a greenhouse, collect data on the plants and return them to the control room. The robot, suitable for 5G, is equipped with two 5 megapixel cameras as "eyes". With sensors at the top of its head and mouth, the robot can also detect wind speeds, carbon dioxide, humidity, temperature and other data about the natural environment of the greenhouse.

MIT’s new mini cheetah robot is springy and light on its feet, with a range of motion that rivals a champion gymnast. The four-legged powerpack can bend and swing its legs wide, enabling it to walk either right-side up or upside down. The robot can also trot over uneven terrain about twice as fast as an average person’s walking speed. Perhaps most impressive is its ability to perform a 360-degree backflip from a standing position. Researchers claim the mini cheetah is designed to be “virtually indestructible,” recovering with little damage Robotdog race “Eventually, I’m hoping we could have a robotic dog race through an obstacle course, where each team controls a mini cheetah with different algorithms, and we can see which strategy is more effective. That’s how you accelerate research.”

The robot has the size of a small cool box and rolls over the pavement at walking speed. Deliveries with the robots will take place from Monday to Friday and only during daylight. The trolleys will autonomously follow a set delivery route, but will initially be accompanied by an Amazon employee. The technology giant ensures that the devices "can safely and efficiently navigate around pets, pedestrians and any other object in their path".

There were even plans to bring a consumer-oriented product onto the market by 2020, according to reports, but it soon turned out that this was too optimistic a goal. New focus A source known at Tech Crunch indicated that the focus of Alphabet was already there. The tech giant now focuses more on industrial robots and parts such as robot arms than on fully independent robots.

Dubai doesn't shy away from modern technology. For example, the fire brigade has water jet packs to fight fires from the air and the police in Lamborghini drive with crime prevention software. Now the next step is taken: robocops. The Dubai police recently started using the human-like REEM robot, developed by the Spanish company Pal Robotics. However, this RoboCop is less spectacular than the cyborg from the science fiction film of the same name. REEM does not take to the streets heavily armed to track down and eliminate criminals. This robot helps citizens to file a report, pay fines and provide general information.
