TU Eindhoven robotics
Eindhoven University of Technology specializes more in the technical field and the development of software for robots. There will be special lectures and instructions about robotics and programming of microchips. At the end of the program robots will be built and programmed by the sudents themeselves.
Robot Lab
TU Eindhoven has a Robot Lab. This study focuses on two lines:
- Human-Robot Interaction
- Social Robotics Adaptive and Learning Agents
Human-Robot Interaction and Social Robotics
In examining the first line an ICAT-robot and an Aldebaran Nao humanoid robots are used. In a project scientists researche neural evolutionary techniques in their experiments with Human-Robot Interaction, for example with young children in whom autism is found. Other research focuses on general social aspects of Human-Robot Interaction. The long-term goal is to investigate how robots can easily be used in our daily lives.
Adaptive and Learning Agents
The second line of research are techniques such as Reinforcement Learning, Evolutionary Game Theory and Swarm Intelligence. The goal is to control and coordinate a group of agents or robots for specific tasks. For this research, two Aldebaran Nao robots and four Kephera III robots are used. The Aldebaran Nao robots are learning through multi-agent learning algorithms, simple tasks and skills in the context of robot soccer. They learn to walk into a ball, kicking against it, etc.
