Toshiba Apripoco

Toshiba has developed a prototype robot that can act as a voice gateway to just about everything in the room with a remote control. In a demonstration at the R & D lab in Kawasaki ApriPoco was able as respons to commands to switch of or set on multiple devices such as a bull on and off TV, air conditioning and a lamp.

Voice Commands

For example "Switching on the TV, " Apripoco starts to learn the meaning of each signal and can eventually work on remote control with short  commands like "Turn on TV" and the set comes back to life. The robot also has the ability to remember program names or genres, but can not work with an electronic program guide.
